又井の水のごときは。冬月の水は温（あたゝか）にして数月たく
はふるといへども。清水（せいすい）のことし。夏月の水は冷（ひやゝか）なれど
日あらずして腐水（くされみづ）となるなり。此水と火の二ッは。
即 寒熱（かんねつ）にして治療の道の柱（はしら）なるに。水火の理をわき
まへぬ医まゝあり。まして無量（かきりなき）の病きはめ尽（つく）し
がたきことなるに。世医が病人をみて。われは顔（がほ）して
目にも見えぬ腹中の事どもを。這入（はいり）てみしやうに
説（とく）ところ。左あることかと理あるがごとくに聞ゆれど。

おほく空言（そらごと）臆説（すいりやう）なり。猥（みだり）に信用することなかれ。
富貴の家に出入（ていり）し。名利に足をそら【注】にして夜（よる）昼（ひる）
かけ廻る輩（ともがら）。いかで腹中のあやつりを透明（とうめい）【左ルビ：ミスカス】することを
得べけんや。かゝるゆへに上にいふ所の治せされば中医
を得（うる）のをしへは。庸医がみだりに薬を用ひ人をそこ
なふにより。薬を飲ずして保養すべしといふ義なり。
此言を和漢（わかん）の名医も賞美（しやうび）せり。これにまされるよき
薬はあるべからず。今時の上医（じやうず）の薬より其益多しと

多くは空言や臆測である。みだりに信用してはいけない。富貴の家に出入りし、名利に足も地につかないほどあちこち急ぎ回る連中が、どうして腹中の仕組みを透明に見通すことができるであろうか。このような理由で上に言うところの「病気を治そうとしなければ中程度の医者を得る」という教えは、庸医がみだりに薬を用いて人を害するので、薬を飲まずして保養すべきであるという意味である。この言葉を和漢の名医も賞賛している。これに勝る良い薬はないであろう。今時の上手な医者の薬よりもその益は多いと

For such reasons, the teaching mentioned above that "if you do not try to cure illness, you will find a middle-grade doctor" means that because mediocre doctors carelessly use medicines and harm people, one should maintain health without taking medicine. Even renowned doctors of Japanese and Chinese medicine have praised these words. There could be no better medicine than this. Its benefits are greater than the medicines of today's skilled doctors.
