治療することの方法を知らないわけではないが、まったくその治療効果が顕著に現れるのを見ない。これは「労して功なし」と言うべきであろう。そこで小川氏顕道という人が、これを憐れんで心配することここに長年にわたっている。その病気の初期に兆しが現れるところを戒める言葉は、実に深く行き届いており、かつ庸医の心肝に針を刺すような言葉は、とても厳しくて、今回「民家養生訓」と名づけた
