剃髪（ていはつ）して医者と化（ばける）がおほし。さればこそ
世の中に。庸医みち〳〵て人をそこなふこと
甚大（はなはだおほい）なり。顕道（あきみち）弱冠（をさなき）より先考（ちゝ）家兄（あに）の膝下（しつか）に
侍りて。治療を傍観（ぼうくわん）【左ルビ：ソバニミル】すること久しく又みづ
から治療せし所も万を以てかぞふべし。
其あいだ此病を療することもつともおほし。
その聞えありてや。異（こと）なる術（じゆつ）もあらんかと。
遠方（ゑんほう）よりも訪（とい）きたりて。疹視（しんし）治療を乞（こい）もとむ。

大かたは偶中（まぐれあたり）にて。内にみづから顧（かへり）みれば。背中（せなか）に
汗（あせ）することおほし。その手近（てぢか）きにいたりては。附子（ぶし）
石膏（せきこう）の二症（にしやう）だにわかつこともあたはずして。
おほくの月日をすぐし侍りぬ。今や稀古（きこ）の
歳（とし）をこえて。拙（つたな）きむかしの問（と）はずがたりも
はづかしけれど。医業（いぎやう）はかたきことにして。凡庸（ぼんよふ）【左ルビ：ナミ〳〵ノヒト】の
なすべき芸（しわざ）にあらず。故に庸医は常（つね）に多し。

剃髪して医者になりすます者が多い。だからこそ
世の中に、藪医者が満ち溢れて人を害すること
甚だ多いのである。顕道は若い頃から亡父や家兄のもとで
侍り、治療を傍で見ることが長く、また自ら
治療した所も万を数えるほどである。
その間、この病気を治療することが最も多かった。
その評判があってか、特別な技術もあるだろうかと、
遠方からも訪ねてきて、診察治療を求める。

その中で時々効果を得たものもあるが、
大抵は偶然の当たりで、内心自分を振り返れば、背中に
汗をかくことが多い。その身近な症例においては、附子証と
石膏証の二症さえも区別することができずに、
多くの月日を過ごしてしまった。今や稀古（70歳）の
歳を越えて、つたない昔の体験談も
恥ずかしいけれど、医業は困難なことであって、凡庸な人の
なすべき技芸ではない。故に藪医者は常に多いのである。
