奉る心さしをろかならすおきなの申さん事
きゝ給ひてんやといへはかくやひめ何事をか
のたまはんことは承らさらむへんけの物にて
侍けん身ともしらすおやとこそおもひ奉れと
いふおきなうれしくもの給ふものかなといふお
きな年七十にあまりぬけふともあすともし
らす此世の人は男は女にあふ事をす女は男
にあふことをす其後なん門ひろくもなり
侍るいかてかさる事ノなくてはおはせんかく
やひめのいはくなんてうさる事かし侍らん
現代語訳
人と申しながら、これほど大きくなるまで養い申し上げる心志は軽からず、翁の申すことをお聞きになってくださいませんか」と言えば、かぐや姫は「何事をおっしゃることでも承りましょう。化身の者であったとしても身ともわからず、親とこそ思い申し上げております」と言う。翁は「嬉しくおっしゃってくださるものですね」と言う。翁は年七十を超えました。今日とも明日とも知れません。この世の人は男は女に逢うことをし、女は男に逢うことをします。その後に家門も広くなるものでございます。どうしてそのようなことなしでいらっしゃいましょうか」。かぐや姫が言うには「なんと辛いことをおっしゃるのでしょうか。

Though you are called a person, my devotion in raising you to this great age is not insignificant - will you not listen to what this old man says?" When he said this, Princess Kaguya replied, "I shall listen to whatever you may say. Even if I am an incarnation, I do not know my true identity, and I think of you as my parent." The old man said, "How happily you speak!" The old man has passed seventy years of age. I know not whether it be today or tomorrow [that I die]. The people of this world - men meet with women, and women meet with men. After that, their family gates become prosperous. How could you remain without such things?"
