べき人々は皆難波まで御見送りした。御子は人目を忍んでと仰せになって、人も大勢いて居られるように見せかけ、親しく仕える者だけを連れて出発なさった。御見送りの人々は見送って帰った。出発なさったと人には見えるようにして、三日ほどあって密かに帰られた。前もって全て指示してあったので、その時一つの宝物である工匠六人を呼び集めて、簡単に人が近寄れない家を作らせて、かまどを三重にして籠もり、工匠らを入れなさりつつ、御子も同じ場所に籠もりなさって、支配しておられる全十六ヶ所の領地の上に煙出しの穴を開けて、玉の枝をお作りになった。

All the people who should accompany him saw him off as far as Naniwa. The prince said he would travel in secret, making it appear as if many people were with him, but actually departed with only his close retainers. The people who saw him off returned home. After making it appear to people that he had departed, about three days later he secretly returned. Since he had given all instructions beforehand, he then summoned six craftsmen who were skilled in working with precious materials, had them build a house that people could not easily approach, made triple-layered furnaces and secluded himself there. While keeping the craftsmen inside, the prince also secluded himself in the same place, and opening smoke holes above all sixteen territories under his control, he set about creating the jeweled branch.
