仰の事はいともたうとし但この玉たはやす
く得とらしをいはんやたつのくひの玉はいかゝ
とらんと申あへり大納言の給ふ天のつかひと
いはんものは命をすてゝもをのか君のおほせ
事をはかなへんとこそ思へけれ此國になき
てんちくもろこしの物にもあらす此國の海山
よりたつはおりのほる物也いかに思ひてか汝
らかたき物と申へきをのこ共申様さらは
いかゝはせんかたき物成共仰事にしたかひても
とめにまからんと申に大納言見わらひてなん
ちらか君の使と名をなかしつ君の仰事をは

「仰せの事は実に尊いことです。ただし、この玉は簡単に手に入れることができるでしょうか。まして龍の首の玉はどのように取ればよいのでしょうか」と申し合った。大納言が仰せになるには「天の使いというものは、命を捨ててでも自分の主君の仰せ事を遂げようと思うものである。この国にないものでも、天竺や唐土の物でもない。この国の海や山から龍は時折昇ってくるものである。どうしてお前たちが困難な物だと申すのか」。男たちが申すには「それならばどうしましょうか。困難な物であっても、仰せ事に従って探しに参りましょう」と申すと、大納言は見て笑って「お前たちが君の使いと名を残すのだ。君の仰せ事を
