ひめいといたくなき給ふ人目も今はつゝみ給
はすなき給ふ是をみて親共も何事そととひさ

お考えになることは何事ですか」と言うと、「思うことも特にありません。ただ物事が心細く思われるのです」と言うので、翁は「月をご覧にならないでください。月をご覧になると物思いにふける様子がおありになるようですから」と言うと、「どうして月を見ずにいられましょうか」と言って、やはり月が出ると縁側に出て座り続けて嘆き悲しんでいた。夕暮れの暗闇の時には物思いをしない様子である。月が出る頃になると、なおその時々には心から嘆き泣いたりなどする。これに仕える者たちも、やはり何か深くお考えになることがあるに違いないとささやくけれども、親をはじめとして何事とも分からない。八月十五日頃の月に縁側に出て座って、かぐや姫はたいそうひどくお泣きになる。人目も今はお隠しにならずにお泣きになる。これを見て両親も「何事ですか」と問い
