現代語訳
【看板】人目関
鎌倉の入口に「人目の関」という新しい関所を設けて、往来の旅人の目を改める。六十六部、回国修行売り、巡礼、非人などで、少しでも景清臭い奴は別して、禁制品を持つ、難しく人相帳の片輪者なども、景清の目の入れ替わりならんと疑いかかり、痣のある男、浅黄の頭巾を着た者は頭の覆い物を取りましょうと申された。
「あがり目、さがり目、ぐるりと回して猫の目をして通りましょう」
♪それぞれ面々、思い見れども見えず、聞けども聞こえません。盲目に御法師や。
「目がね目がね」と呼んで歩く商人は目に縁はあれども、何も疑わしい訳ではないゆえ、関所の前を悠々と通る。

[Sign] Hitome-no-seki (The Checkpoint of Human Eyes)
At the entrance to Kamakura, a new checkpoint called "Hitome-no-seki" (The Checkpoint of Human Eyes) was established to examine the eyes of travelers passing by. Rokujūroku-bu pilgrims, itinerant monks, peddlers, regular pilgrims, and outcasts—anyone who seems even slightly suspicious of being Kagekiyo—are subjected to special scrutiny. Those carrying contraband, those with difficult faces matching wanted posters, or those with physical deformities are all suspected of possibly being Kagekiyo with replacement eyes. Men with scars or those wearing light blue hoods are told to remove their head coverings.
"With upturned eyes, downturned eyes, rolling them around like cat's eyes, let me pass through."
♪Each person individually, though they look they cannot see, though they listen they cannot hear. Blind monks, oh!
A merchant walking around calling "eyeglasses, eyeglasses" has connections to eyes, but since there's nothing particularly suspicious about him, he passes leisurely in front of the checkpoint.
