先非悔候得共 上ヶ恐御願申上へき様も
無御座罷有候然処ニ此度黒河内村名主
又蔵并居村役人共段々右之趣承候上
再御役之義奉願候然共一度不届仕者共
御役願之義奉恐入候ニ付子共弐第甥等
名前ヲ以此者共ニ御役被仰付被下置候様ニ御訴
訟申上候処被為闇召分願之通被 仰付
難有仕合可申上様も無御座候御事
一 向後別而御林大ニ守り苗木等植添茂り候
様ニ仕枝木之義ハ勿論下草等ニ至迄於
無御指図は私ニ苅取申間敷候諸事山
廻り御役人方え相伺御差図次第可相勤候
尤惣而御林御定法之通ニ急度慎相守可
申候御事
右之通少も相背申間敷候若壱人成共
違失不届仕候者有之候ハヽ村役人共并仲ヶ
現代語訳
先非を悔やんでおりますが、上様に恐れ多くもお願い申し上げるような手立ても
ございませんでおります。しかしながら、この度黒河内村名主
又蔵並びに居村役人共が段々右の趣旨を承った上で
再び御役のことをお願いいたしました。しかしながら一度不届きをいたした者共が
御役をお願いすることは恐れ入ることでございますので、子供や弟、甥など
の名前をもって、この者共に御役を仰せ付けてくださいますようにお訴訟
申し上げましたところ、お聞き届けくださり、願いの通りに仰せ付けて
いただき、ありがたい仕合わせで申し上げようもございません
一、今後は特に御林を大切に守り、苗木などを植え足して茂らせる
ようにいたし、枝木のことはもちろん下草などに至るまで
御指図なくては私的に刈り取ることはいたしません。諸事山
回りは御役人方へ相談し、御指図次第で勤めてまいります。
もっとも、すべて御林の御定法の通りにきっと慎んで守って
まいります
右の通り少しも背くことはいたしません。もし一人でも
違反や不届きをする者がございましたら、村役人共並びに仲間が

I deeply regret my past wrongdoings, but there was no way for me to fearfully petition Your Honor.
However, at this time, the village headman of Kurokawachi village,
Matazō, along with the village officials, having heard of this matter repeatedly,
petitioned for the restoration of our position. However, since those who have once committed improprieties
requesting official positions is most fearful, we petitioned that our children, younger brothers, nephews and others
be appointed to these positions in their names instead.
When this petition was submitted, it was graciously heard and granted as requested,
for which we are so grateful that there are no words to express our appreciation.
Item: Henceforth, we shall especially protect the protected forest, plant additional saplings to make them flourish,
and regarding branch wood, needless to say, down to undergrowth,
we shall not cut anything privately without official instruction. In all forest
patrol matters, we shall consult with the officials and serve according to their directions.
Most importantly, we shall strictly and carefully observe all matters according to the established laws of the protected forest
as stipulated.
We shall not deviate from the above in the slightest. If even one person
commits violations or improprieties, the village officials and fellow [guardians]
