現代語訳
ここにまた、商売金の番をして口を利かないものがある。何があっても利益のため、これはかつて人にも貸さないし、もちろん施すなどということは一切ない。調度や食べ物を人にも食わせず、自分も食わずして、後は一切腐らせて捨ててしまうようなもので、金もまったく使わずにただ貯めてばかりおくと錆が出て使われないようになる。金の亡者になってみたかい。いたずらに苦しい事ではないか。欲張りの老人が入っているようなもので、後には青錆という病気が出て、
ただうんうんと唸ってばかりいる。その番をしているものは、病人の看病をするような人が、鳥を飼って楽しむものと同じことで、自分ばかりが面白くて、鳥の目からは、きっと山椒太夫のように思うだろう。
♪俺が金の番をするとって、この草子の作者めが悪口を言いやがるが、できるなら少し金の番をしてみたがいい。しかしこう言ったら、大方人の金を借りて番をしていると言うだろうが、とっつかまえてでもいることか。すぐに鳥に貸して、あはは。三太郎段平はさ。
♪こんなに病人が多くては、二朱銀の値が上がりやしょう。
今年は相場が狂うから、手前身にも当たりやすと見える。
貧乏の病は、とうか知らねえが、金の病も言えないものだ。早く息子の代にして、久しぶりで少し粋な所も見てえものだ。
♪金守役とは、とうか上方の口番のようだ。

Here again, there is someone who guards commercial money and speaks to no one. Whatever happens, it's for profit - he never lends to anyone, and of course never gives charity. He doesn't let others eat his household goods or food, nor does he eat them himself, and later he lets everything rot and throws it away.
