現代語訳
また人の身につかない金がある。これは不時の金で、思いがけなくもうけたか拾った金か、ただし源四郎でもした金である。この金はついぞ行き付けない手に渡ったので、居付かずしてすぐに羽が生えて酒屋へと飛ぶ金、あれは鰻屋へと飛ぶ金がある。後に残った金が「せめて俺は飛ぶまい」と言って辛抱してみたが、日が暮れると寂しくなって堪えられず、とうとう借りたくのほうへ飛び出していく。
これから深川へ行こうか行くまいか、いや行こうかという足と足を縄のようによじらして、どうやら雪隠の前に立って急ぐような身をしている内に、早くも懐中の金は羽繕いをして待っている。

♪小判には羽が生えて駆け飛ぶところは、どうやら擂り粉木の雛形というものだ

There is also money that doesn't stay with people. This is windfall money - money unexpectedly earned or found, or perhaps money obtained through questionable means like Genshirō might have done. Since this money has come into hands that are unaccustomed to it, it doesn't settle down but immediately grows wings and flies off - some to sake shops, some to eel restaurants. The money left behind says "At least I won't fly away" and tries to endure, but when evening comes, it becomes lonely and can't bear it, eventually flying off toward the gambling den.
"Should I go to Fukagawa or not? No, I should go" - twisting his legs like rope, somehow standing in front of the privy in a hurried manner, while the money in his pocket is already preening its feathers and waiting.
