現代語訳
受け取ったりやかけ取ったりや、その月は金が敵ということがある。
なるほど敵に違いなし。貧乏な人の年月、艱難辛苦をして、まちにまったる金に巡り合ったことなれば、すぐに下に置くまもなく、己まず二つと小判なれば小粒に切り、小粒なれば二朱に切って、果ては細々と使い果たす。この手合いの金はみな血の出る金ゆえ、切られる因縁争そわれぬものなり。
♪金が切られるにもやっぱり調子を合わせてダァ引
もしついでに両方の腕も切って、こんな鋏にして使いやんすよ。
己から切っておいて、また胴中から切ってしまう。四つにしなへと小粒にやならねえ。
♪人が敵の世の習い、人がなければ何のいな
♪南無三、かすり傷を受けた二三両も引こうやあ、通用はならぬという身の上になった、悲しやああ

When you receive money or when you gamble it away, during those times money becomes your enemy.
Indeed, it is truly an enemy. For poor people who have endured years of hardship and suffering, when they finally encounter the money they have long awaited, they cannot even set it down for a moment. They immediately cut a koban into smaller pieces, and if it's already small pieces, they cut it into ni-shu coins, until finally they use it up bit by bit. All money of this type is "blood money" earned through suffering, so its fate of being cut up cannot be avoided.
♪Even when money is being cut, you still have to keep time and sing "Daa-in"
If you like, cut off both arms too and use them as scissors like this.
After cutting it yourself, you cut it again through the middle. It won't become small pieces unless you cut it into four pieces.
♪It's the way of the world that people are enemies; without people, what would there be?
♪Namu-san, even the two or three ryō that received scratches - when you try to exchange them, they say they won't pass as legal tender. How sad it is to find oneself in such circumstances!
