現代語訳
♪あの芸者は新吹きがして、つい見ぬ顔だが、どんなに恐ろしいことだ。
♪世間に「金が金を呼ぶ」という諺がある。ある金持ちの隣に、よく面の割れた（顔の知れた）奴がいて、何でも隣の金をこちらへ呼ぼうと蔵を建てるのに、向かい合わせに的を開け置いたところ、なんと隣の金は勢いよく大勢なので大騒ぎで、その賑やかさがこちらの金を羨ましく思わせ、羨ましそうにのそのそといるのを、隣の金が見かねて言うには「一つの真似事に手前たちも気の利かない金へ、もんだ（文句）、そんな恥ずかしくない所にいずとも、ちょっとこちらへ来て生き生きと付き合いもしてみたら良い」と勧められて、いつの間にかこそこそと隣の蔵へ固まる。
♪なんだか俺の心も知らずに、こう盛んにふざけやがる。俺が八人前もあるから、とんだやかましくて、夜も眠れない。小判の奴らだ。
♪あの江戸節を聞き、やれ歌う奴に切れがあると見えて、おかしな声だ。

The neighbor's money was so vigorous and numerous that it caused a great commotion, and its liveliness made this side's money envious. Seeing the money lounging around enviously, the neighbor's money took pity and said, "For one imitation, you dull money should also come over here and try mingling lively instead of staying in such an undignified place." Persuaded by this, before long the money secretly gathered in the neighbor's storehouse.
