一 同姓播磨守為名代晒帷子半上下着用五半時
出宅致登 城候
一 御目付え坊主衆を以為名代罷出候段申遣置候
一 内藤造酒義も被罷出候間面会相応致挨
拶後刻被 仰渡席等之義申合置候
一 老衆登 城ニ而詰日之衆一同席え罷出候
一 無程御目付寄申来候夫ゟ御廻前頃見計末

一 同姓播磨守の名代として晒帷子半上下を着用し、五時半に
出宅して登城した
一 御目付へ坊主衆を通して名代として参上した旨を申し遣わしておいた
一 内藤造酒も参上しているので面会し、相応に挨拶をして、
後刻仰せ渡される席などの件について申し合わせておいた
一 老中が登城して詰日の衆が一同席に出た
一 程なく御目付が寄って来たので、それから御廻り前頃を見計らって末席に
図のように着座した
一 波之間へ老中が出座し御目付が会釈をして、自分と造酒が
一同で出た。同姓播磨守病気につき願いの通り隠居を
仰せ付けられ、家督は相違なく養子造酒へ下されるという旨を
御用番松平右京大夫殿が仰せ渡された。有難い仕合わせと
自分から御受け申し上げて退座した
一 それから造酒へも挨拶をして蘇鉄之間へ
越し、同人の留守居へ仰せ渡しの趣旨を詳しく申し含めた
一 それから直ちに退出し、老若廻り勤めの右廻り勤めを仕舞って、堀田摂津守殿の
門前で同姓造酒の留守居が出迎えているので口上を申し含めて
帰宅したのは九時半であった

The 23rd day of the same month
1. As representative of my kinsman Harima-no-kami, I wore bleached hemp half-formal attire and
departed home at 5:30 to enter the castle
1. I had already sent word through the monks to the inspector that I would appear as a representative
1. Since Naito Miki was also present, I met with him and exchanged appropriate greetings,
then discussed arrangements for the seats where the announcement would later be made
1. When the senior councillors entered the castle, all those on duty that day came to their seats
1. Soon an inspector approached, so timing it for around the inspection rounds, I took my seat
at the end as shown in the diagram
1. The senior councillors entered the Nami-no-ma (Wave Room) and the inspector gave his acknowledgment, whereupon
both myself and Miki came forward together. Regarding my kinsman Harima-no-kami's illness, as petitioned, his retirement was
granted, and the family headship was without question bestowed upon his adopted son Miki, as announced by
the duty officer Matsudaira Ukyo-no-taiyu-dono. I respectfully acknowledged this
fortunate outcome and withdrew from my seat
1. Then I also greeted Miki and proceeded to the Sotetsu-no-ma (Cycad Room)
where I fully informed his caretaker of the details of what had been announced
1. Then I immediately left the castle, completed my rounds of duty among senior and junior officials, and at the gate of Lord Hotta Settsu-no-kami's residence
where my kinsman Miki's caretaker was waiting, I conveyed the verbal message and
returned home at 9:30
