ようになると思えば心地よく、御上使方と同道して江戸の方へ急いでいきました。この時、沖の次村では御先触れの様子を聞き、一家親類が寄り集まり、今日珍しく袋井宿を通る二人は、まことに煎り豆に花が咲いたようなものだと見に出てきました。頃は九月五日でした。今か遅しかと待っていると、御上使方に連れられて通りかかってきましたが、御用の済まぬ身の上では、自分の思うままに一言の言葉を交わすこともできず、

Thinking it would be thus, they felt cheerful as they traveled together with the official envoys, hurrying toward Edo. At this time, in Okinotsugi village, hearing news of the advance notice, family and relatives gathered together, saying that the two men passing through Fukuroi post station today were truly as rare as flowers blooming on roasted beans, and came out to see them. It was around the 5th day of the 9th month.
