意す弥白嶋退く一両日も漂流致さば今一左右次
第に可罷立と被 仰渡又慈嶋在勤之士も打払
之事漂流之辺不定をヲは用捨可有白嶋前後に漂流
之事は小倉長府へ被仰誤有之其後追払可申旨福
岡より御指図に付地ノ島在勤の諸士は徒に打進ぬ然處に
七月廿八日未明に小船頭両人西村左平太小藤七兵衛
宇佐美権ゟ頭取に而御用丸四艘に容竟之加子大
勢取乗慈嶋を押出し白嶋ゟ西に漂流せし新来之
唐船に仕懸け四艘之船子我？とらじと唐船乗移
り掛けはづしのしとみを取てなけ捨斧かけ矢を

おぢおぢはい出帆を引廻し風を請け出帆す故舟手之

「右帖」
白島に一両日漂流するようであれば、今一度の指示次第で出立可能であると仰せ渡された。また慈島在勤の士も、打ち払いの事や漂流の場所が不定であることを考慮すべきである。白島前後に漂流することについては小倉・長府へ仰せ違いがあった。その後追い払うべき旨が福岡より御指図があったため、地ノ島在勤の諸士は無駄に打って出なかった。
そのような中、七月二十八日未明に小船頭両人（西村左平太・小藤七兵衛）が宇佐美権右衛門を頭取として御用丸四艘に相応の加子大勢を乗せて慈島を出発し、白島より西に漂流していた新来の唐船に仕掛けた。四艘の船子が我先にと唐船に乗り移ろうとかかり、羽目板や格子窓を取って投げ捨て、斧や矢を

手に手に持って船端を打ち砕き、手にかかるものを当たるを幸いに海に投げ入れた。笥の類、七島包一式などを包んだ物を投げ捨て、差し出る唐人を打ち伏せ踏みつけ叩き、手向かいする者を手棒・熊手・鳶口にて打ち伏せた。
唐人どもは恐れて船底に入り、なおも上回りにある程の物を海に入れ、混乱して働き回った。その後しばらくして唐船より本来の船に乗り移り様子を見ていると、暫くして唐人どもが船底よりおずおずと這い出て、帆を引き回し風を受けて出帆した。そこで舟手の人数はそれより本来の慈島に漕ぎ帰った。藤井勘右衛門・松本市郎右衛門にこのように語ったところ、よく働いたとして褒美があった。その後遠見では

「Right Volume」
It was announced that if [the ship] drifted near Shirashima for a day or two, they could depart depending on further instructions. Also, the samurai stationed at Jishima should consider the unpredictable nature of repelling attacks and drifting locations. Regarding drifting around Shirashima, there were conflicting orders to Kokura and Chōfu. Later, following instructions from Fukuoka to drive them away, the various samurai stationed at Chi-no-shima did not advance in vain.
Under such circumstances, on the dawn of July 28th, two boat captains (Nishimura Saheita and Ko Fujishichibei) with Usamiya Gonuemon as leader, loaded appropriate numbers of sailors onto four official vessels, departed from Jishima, and attacked a newly arrived Chinese ship drifting west of Shirashima. The sailors from the four boats competed to board the Chinese ship first, removing and throwing away the side panels and latticed windows, taking axes and arrows

in their hands to smash the gunwales, throwing whatever they could grab into the sea. They threw away boxes, Shichitō-wrapped bundles, and other packed items, struck down and trampled the Chinese who resisted, and beat down those who fought back with hand clubs, rakes, and boat hooks.
The Chinese, terrified, retreated to the ship's hold, while [the attackers] continued to throw overboard whatever remained on the upper deck, working frantically in the chaos. After some time, they transferred back to their original ships from the Chinese vessel and observed. After a while, the Chinese timidly crawled out from the ship's hold, adjusted their sails to catch the wind, and departed. The naval forces then rowed back to their original base at Jishima. When this was reported to Fujii Kanuemon and Matsumoto Ichirōuemon, they were praised for their good work and received rewards. After that, the lookouts [reported]...
