「右帖」
[宿]に着くと、[福田加助は]そのまま息を引き取って死んでしまった。気の毒なことであった。翌四日、福田の遺体を船に乗せて福岡へ送った。乗組員たちは手伝いの福井伝平が付き添って参った。
一 その後、右の二艘の唐船は乾（北西）の方角に当たる沖合いに逃げているのが見えたが、同十日頃は波の陰に隠れて見えたり見えなかったりしていたものの、同十三、四日頃からは全く帆の影も見えなくなった。どこの遠見番からも全く見えないと注進してきた。福岡からの御指図でも、今しばらく帆影も見えないようであれば、慈島勤務先を引き上げるよう仰せ付けられるであろう。この者たちは交代まで先ず勤務を続けるようにとのことであった。

「Right Volume」
Upon arriving [at the lodging], [Fukuda Kasuke] breathed his last and died on the spot. It was truly a pitiful affair. On the following fourth day, Fukuda's remains were placed on a ship and sent to Fukuoka. Among the crew members, his assistant Fukui Denpei accompanied [the body].
1. After that, the aforementioned two Chinese ships were seen escaping toward the northwest (inu/northwest direction) offshore. Around the tenth day of the same month, they could be seen intermittently, appearing and disappearing behind the waves, but from around the thirteenth or fourteenth day onward, not even a trace of their sails could be seen. Reports came in from all the lookout posts that they could no longer be spotted at all. According to instructions from Fukuoka, if no sail shadows are sighted for a while longer, orders would be given to withdraw from the Jishima posting. These men were to continue their duties until the next rotation.
