During the aforementioned period of duty, Chinese ship repulsion operations took place, and in accordance with instructions given at each occasion, several Chinese ships were repelled. Each time, reports were sent to both Edo and Nagasaki, and word came to Fukuoka that [these actions] reached the Shogun's attention and received his commendation.
