宮本伝太夫と評議し、今日は日和も良く海も穏やか（�凪）なので、今夕沖に出て打ち払うことと決定し、夕刻頃から以下の面々が慈島を出船した。

右の通り日々船数十艘全て慈島へ出払われ、次第に夜に入る頃、海上が静かに凪になったので、船々が慈島沖へ出た。まず沖見に小船頭らが各方面を見分したところ、昼からは唐船も乗り上がって山家沖三、四里程に見えるとのことで、漕ぎ帰って注進した。それより丑の刻頃からそろそろと唐船近くに押し寄せ、夜明けを今か今かと待った。

As described above, dozens of vessels were deployed daily to Jishima, and as night gradually fell and the sea became calm, the ships went out into the offing of Jishima. First, boat captains went out for reconnaissance in various directions and observed that since daytime the Chinese ship had moved closer and could be seen about three to four ri offshore from Yamaga. They rowed back and reported this. From around the hour of the Ox (1-3 AM), they gradually approached the Chinese ship and eagerly awaited daybreak.
