墨工古梅園の松井和泉の家造は心を用いて甚だ精巧を尽くしている。壬午の客品中に数十品を揃えている。今、彼の家で製造するという数種を下に付け加える。
○松煙 宗奭が言うには「須く松煙墨を用いて、方に薬に入るべし」と。東壁が言うには「上墨は松煙を以て、梣皮汁（トネリコ）を用いて解き和して造る」と。漢土では専ら松煙を以て製造する。本邦でも古く紀伊藤代で製造した墨は松煙で造ったということが『古今著聞集』第三に出ている。冷泉為重卿の歌に「逢ふことを松にかけたる藤代の墨の名高き楮の玉づさ」とも詠んでいる。今に至って藤代の山中より松煙を焼き出す。墨戸これを求めて墨を製造する。名付けて
大平煤という。そうであれば昔の藤代墨の形は今世に伝わる所の大平墨の形であろうと松井元泰の筆記に見えている。中古以来、本邦では上墨には油煙を用い、松煙は下墨の料とする。且つ梣皮汁も用いないゆえに、目疾等を治療する効果が少ない。薬用には漢製の松煙墨の上品なるを用いるべきである。ただし古梅園が製造する梣皮汁及び膠等を用いる方法は漢製と異なることがない。薬用とするに堪える。○千歳松 宋の晁氏墨経及び他の諸説を考えると、熊野山中の千歳古松の煤を取って製造した墨である。
勅があって千歳松の号を賜ると云う。○御墨 松井元

The ink craftsman of Kobai-en, Matsui Izumi's family workshop, applies great care and achieves extraordinary precision. Among the guest items of the Mizunoe-uma year, they have assembled several dozen varieties. Below I append several types that his family currently manufactures.
○Pine soot Zongshi said, "One must use pine soot ink, which can be properly added to medicine." Dongbi said, "Superior ink uses pine soot, employing ash tree bark juice (tonerico) to dissolve and blend it." In China, they manufacture exclusively with pine soot. In our country too, the ink made in ancient times at Fujishiro in Kii was made from pine soot, as recorded in the Kokon Chomonjū, Volume 3. Lord Reizei Tameshige also composed a poem: "The encounter likened to pine - Fujishiro's ink of great renown, letters on mulberry paper." Even now, pine soot is burned and extracted from the mountains of Fujishiro. Ink makers seek this to manufacture ink. It is called
Taihei soot. If so, then the form of the ancient Fujishiro ink would likely be the form of the Taihei ink transmitted in the present world, as seen in Matsui Genyasu's notes. Since the medieval period, in our country superior ink uses oil soot, while pine soot serves as material for inferior ink. Moreover, since ash tree bark juice is not used, its effectiveness in treating eye diseases and the like is limited. For medicinal use, one should use superior Chinese-made pine soot ink. However, the method used by Kobai-en in manufacturing with ash tree bark juice and glue does not differ from Chinese production. It is suitable for medicinal use. ○Chitose Pine Considering the Song dynasty Chao family's ink manual and other various theories, this is ink made by collecting soot from thousand-year-old ancient pines in the mountains of Kumano.
