○雑煙 およそ諸々の油で灯火とすれば煤がある。これを取って墨に製すれば色がそれぞれ異なるとて、好事の者がこれを愛玩する。しかしながら薬用とすべきではない。
○石液墨 越後国で産出する石脳油の煤を取って製したものである。宗奭が言うには「鄜延に石油があり、その煙は甚だ濃く、その煤は墨となすべく、黒光漆の如く、薬に入るべからず」と言うものがこれである。
○麻油煙墨○榧油煙墨○紅花子油煙墨○桐花煙墨○鯨油煙墨○松子煙墨 以上十二種は古梅園が製する壬午客品の中に具わっている。その他二十余種は薬用に関係ないものなので省略する。
釜臍墨 和名はカマノヘソノスミ、またはナベズミ
百草霜 和名はクドノスミ、またはカマドノヒタヒスミ。釜臍墨・百草霜・百草灰の三種は紛らわしく、混同してはならない。釜臍墨は鍋釜に付いた墨、百草霜は竈の額に付いた墨である。田舎で色々な草などを焼いた所の者を取り用いるべきである。百草灰は雑草部に出ている。五月五日に百種の草を採って陰干しし、焼いて灰としたものである。
石鹸 和名はシャボン。練り物である。和産はない。○蛮産。紅毛語でセップラテイン語でサボウネと言う。シャボンはラテイン語より転じ来たのであろう。紅毛新流外科家に多く用いられる。また衣を洗うのに少許入れれば甚だ妙である。

○Mixed soot Generally, when various oils are used for lamps, there is soot. When this is collected and made into ink, each has a different color, which connoisseurs enjoy. However, it should not be used for medicinal purposes.
○Stone oil ink This is made from the soot of stone brain oil (petroleum) produced in Echigo Province. Zong Shi said: "In Fuyan there is stone oil, its smoke is very thick, its soot can be made into ink, with a black luster like lacquer, but should not be used in medicine." This refers to that.
○Hemp oil soot ink ○Torreya oil soot ink ○Safflower seed oil soot ink ○Paulownia flower soot ink ○Whale oil soot ink ○Pine seed soot ink The above twelve types are included among the Mizunoe-uma guest products manufactured by Kobaien. The remaining twenty-plus types have no relevance to medicinal use and are omitted.
Kettle navel soot Japanese name: Kama no heso no sumi, or Nabezumi
Hundred herbs frost Japanese name: Kudo no sumi, or Kamado no hitai sumi. The three types - kettle navel soot, hundred herbs frost, and hundred herbs ash - are easily confused and should not be mixed up. Kettle navel soot is the soot attached to pots and kettles, while hundred herbs frost is the soot attached to the front of stoves. One should collect and use that from places in the countryside where various grasses have been burned. Hundred herbs ash appears in the miscellaneous herbs section. It is made by collecting a hundred types of grasses on the fifth day of the fifth month, drying them in shade, and burning them to ash.
Soap Japanese name: Shabon (soap). It is a kneaded product. There is no domestic production. ○Foreign product. In Dutch it's called "zeep," in Latin "saboune." "Shabon" probably derives from the Latin word. It is much used by Dutch New School surgeons. Also, when a small amount is added when washing clothes, it is extremely effective.
