金、冬は水なり。これ四度土用ありて、則ち五行相生なり。
また二十四節七十二候ということあり。さて又正月は
余寒、末寒、気春寒。
二月は衣更着、追日。
英語訳
Metal, winter is water. These four seasons have earth phases (doyō), which are the mutual generation of the five elements.
Also, there are the twenty-four seasonal divisions and seventy-two seasonal subdivisions.
Now then, in the first month there is:
lingering cold, late cold, spring cold in the air.
In the second month: changing clothes, following days.
