一 産（さん）する時（とき）の備（そなへ）は急（きふ）なることゆへ。あはてさはぎて。誤（あやま）り

生児（うまれこ）を護（まも）り育（そだつ）るも。ゆるかせにすべきことにあらねば。合（あは）

一 医治（ゐぢ）の活法（はたらき）は。短（みじか）き筆（ふで）にはつくしかたきゆへ。常（つね）に
こゝろみし手近（てちか）なる薬（くすり）。十の一二をしるす。これ寒郷（ひんぼむら）
僻壌（かたいなか）の医師（ゐし）にとぼしきところ。又は火急（くわきふ）の心得と

病（やん）で薬（くすり）をもとめんよりは。いましめを平生（へいぜい）にまもらんには。
しかずとおもへばなり
一この書（ふみ）難産（なんさん）の治術（ぢじゆつ）はのせ侍（はべ）らず。たゞ懐妊（くわいにん）のいまし
めと。臨産（りんざん）の心得と。産後（さんこ）の保養（ほいやう）とのみしるしぬ。これ
本（もと）をよく慎（つゝし）みなば。治術（ぢじゆつ）をたのむ末（すへ）の患（うれひ）はなかるべし。
願（ねがは）くはこの筆（ふで）の跡（あと）をふみ給はゞ。安産（あんさん）のたよりともなら
んかしとぞ。

一、出産する時の準備は緊急を要することなので、慌てふためいて間違いを犯しやすいものである。そのため詳しくその要点を示す。また生まれた子を守り育てることも、おろそかにすべきことではないので、合わせてこれを記した。例えば千年を保つべき樹木も、双葉である新芽の時を養うことが肝要であるのと同じである。
一、医学治療の実践法は、短い文章では尽くし難いので、常に試してみた身近な薬の十分の一、二を記す。これは貧しい村や僻地で医師に乏しいところ、または緊急時の心得ともなるであろう。

この書物では全て薬を詳しく載せないのは、病気になってから薬を求めるよりは、戒めを平素に守る方が良いと思うからである。
一、この書物には難産の治療術は載せていない。ただ妊娠中の戒めと、出産時の心得と、産後の保養とのみを記した。これは根本をよく慎めば、治療術に頼る末の患いはないはずである。願わくはこの文章の跡を踏んでくださるならば、安産の手助けともなるであろうか。

1. Preparations for childbirth are urgent matters, so people easily make mistakes in their panic and confusion. Therefore, I show the key points in detail. Also, protecting and nurturing newborn children should not be treated carelessly, so I have recorded this as well. For example, just as a tree that should last a thousand years requires careful nurturing during its tender sprout stage with two leaves, so too is this the case.
1. The practical methods of medical treatment cannot be exhausted in brief writing, so I record one or two out of ten of the familiar medicines I have constantly tried. This may serve as knowledge for poor villages and remote areas where doctors are scarce, or for emergency situations.

The reason this book does not include detailed information about medicines is that I believe it is better to observe precautions in daily life rather than seeking medicines after falling ill.

If one carefully observes the fundamentals, there should be no need to rely on treatment methods for future troubles.
