との二ツの心得 専要（せんよう）なり。居間（ゐま）ひろき家（いへ）ならば。綳（むつき）につゝみ出
て。別（べつ）の間（ま）にて産湯（うふゆ）をなすべし。第一 戸（と）障子（しやうじ）屏風（びやうぶ）などを引（ひき）
まはして。寒（さむ）さをふせぐべし。もし虚弱（きよじやく）にして。初声（はつこゑ）もあ
げず。生育（せいいく）【左ルビ：そだつ】も心もとなく見ゆるは。即座（そくざ）【坐】に初湯（うぶゆ）をなさずし
て。急（きふ）に臍蔕（ほそのを）をきり。さてふるき綿絮（わた）にて。悪露（あくろ）のつきた
るをぬぐひ。綳（むつき）をはだにてあたゝめをき。それにてつゝみ。
懐（ふところ）にいだきいれ。寒（ひへ）ざるやうにして。乳（ち）にもはやくつくべし。
たとへば子の生（うま）れいづるは。蒔（うゑ）をさし木（こ）の実（み）の。土（つち）をわけて生（おひ）
いづるに同じ。この時（とき）に心をとゞめて。よく保護（ほうご）【左ルビ：まもり】をなさゞれば。

🈔臍蔕（ほそのを）をたつ事
全嬰心法（せんゑいしんはふ）の説（せつ）に。臍蔕（ほそのを）をたつは。先（まづ）剪刀（はさみ）をふところ
にして温（あたゝ）めをき。それを用ゆへし。かくのごとくなせば。冷（れい）
気（き）うちにいらざるゆへ。児（ちご）腹（はら）いたむことなしといへり。わか邦（くに）
のならはせには。竹箆（たけへら）を用ひて鉄（てつ）の刃（は）ものをいむ。是（これ）鉄（てつ）
の冷気（れいき）生児（うまれご）をそこなはん事をおそれて也。しかるを礼式（れいしき）
などのごとく思（おも）ひて。竹箆（たけへら）にてきるまねして。まことは鉄（てつ）
の刃（は）ものを用ゆるはひが事也。臍蔕（ほそのを）はもとねばりつよき

という二つの心得が最も重要である。居間の広い家であれば、産着に包んで別の部屋で産湯を使わせるべきである。第一に戸や障子、屏風などを引き回して、寒さを防ぐべきである。もし虚弱で、産声も上げず、成長も心配に見えるときは、すぐに産湯を使わせずに、急いで臍の緒を切り、そして古い綿で悪露の付いたものを拭い、産着を肌で温めておき、それで包み、懐に抱き入れ、冷えないようにして、母乳にも早く付けるべきである。
たとえば子の生まれ出ることは、種を蒔き木の実が、土を分けて生え出るのと同じである。この時に注意を払って、よく保護をしなければ、

🈔臍の緒を切ることについて
全嬰心法の説によると、臍の緒を切るには、まず剪刀（はさみ）を懐中にして温めておき、それを用いるべきである。このようにすれば、冷気が体内に入らないので、子供の腹が痛むことがないという。我が国の習慣では、竹箆を用いて鉄の刃物を忌む。これは鉄の冷気が新生児を傷つけることを恐れてのことである。しかし礼式のごとく思って、竹箆で切る真似をして、実際は鉄の刃物を用いるのは間違ったことである。臍の緒はもとより粘りが強い
