しるしはあるましけれと。貴き賎しき。なへて産に
臨む人々の。利益を得んことは深かりぬへし
と。おもふものから。此文のひろく世に行れんこ
とを希ひて。拙き一言をはし書す。

過しころ。はらみし女のやしなひの道をとふ
人あり。われわかゝりし時。賀川翁にきゝしことのかたは
しなと。のへ侍りしか。退きておもふに。このやしなひの
よろしきと。よろしからぬによりて。生れいつる子の。つよ
きもよはきも。その玉の緒のなかきも。なかゝらさるも
すてにさたまりぬといはんもむへなり。まいて母のやむ
もやまさるも。これにかゝれは。ふかくおそれつゝしみて
ゆるかせにすへからす。因てはらみしうちのやしなひ

目立った効果はないかもしれないが、身分の高い者も低い者も、すべて出産に臨む人々が利益を得ることは大きいであろうと思うので、この書物が広く世に行き渡ることを願って、拙い一言を序文として書き記す。
