芝居も心中事や世話事は流行らず、今度桜田治助が書いた狂言は、きっと当世風だという。
ところにて
第一番目四建目
李氏の館の体で、八佾にて幕開き。切幕にて勅使と呼ぶ仲蔵と幸四郎、両人ながら孔子の役にて、両花道より出て本舞台へかかり、両人儒学の問答議論あり。その争い「役人なるぞ」という きっかけに、上より鳳凰三羽下るを見て怪しみ、幸四郎。

仲蔵を実は陽虎なりと見顕し、壁の中に秘めおきし竹で論を打ち返し、しばらく格闘切り合い、けんかを取って投げ、少正卯が首を見落としたまでの重々人を打ち伏せに、上下を着せたような狂言。

百に三合の粗飯を食らい一日四文の水を飲み、ひもじさを紛らわせて、人一人苦しみ、またその内にありと、雑踏のような騒ぎで、動きが軽いぞ。
