穢多非人等の称号を廃止する条により、今後身分・職業ともに平民同様とすること

一、穢多非人等の称号を廃止する条により、一般民籍に編入し、身分・職業ともにすべて同一になるよう取り扱うこと。ただし、地租その他の免除の慣例もある場合は、見直し方法を検討して大蔵省に伺い出ること

Imperial Edict of September 5th
The designations of "eta" and "hinin" are hereby abolished, and from now on, their social status and occupations shall be the same as commoners.
　8th month of Kanoto-hitsuji (1871)　　　　　Council of State (Daijōkan)

Article 1: As the designations of "eta" and "hinin" are abolished, they shall be incorporated into the general population registry, and their social status and occupations shall be made entirely equal. However, if there are customary exemptions from land tax and other taxes, methods for revision should be considered and reported to the Ministry of Finance.
