（当山に）立ち入ってはならない旨を、何度も使いをよこして申し来たるにつき、私どもが立ち会って趣意を尋ねたところ、何の理由もなく、道理もなく、中実（なかみ）より上は差し止めるよう申し掛けてきましたので、何とか内々に話し合いをいたしましたが、相手方の申す段は、蔵（＝道理・筋）をもって奉行（受け入れ）する意にあらずとのことにつき、やむを得ず御所（お上）に申し上げ候事。
一、入会山の儀は、町歩（面積の記録）はなく、その節その数・その字名・惣名をもって入会いたし候。藤川の切（区切り）・峯通、あるいは村境等の大概等により境目の書付などはございませんが、私どもが〔山に〕立ち

入り来た証拠の儀は、山の筆（山の区画）より草木を引き下ろす場所を「荒し」と申す義筋も限りなく、日用に充て足りる場所がございますので、御慈悲をもって御見分くださいますならば、確かに峯道まで立ち入り来た所が明白になり、御堅慮（賢明なるご判断）に達せられるかと存じ奉り候御事。
一、当村の義は、此度の（水害の）者（こと）、当水（今回の水害）の取り繕い候外は、極貧に相成り、御内地（領内）で立ち帰るための自力もなく、難渋至極仕り、尚また流れ残り候田地にても真土（まつち）蔵り小砂の作地（耕作地）

Messages were repeatedly sent stating that [we] must not enter [the mountain], and so we appeared in person to inquire about the reasoning. However, without any valid justification whatsoever, we were told to cease access from the central boundary (nakami) upward. We attempted to resolve this quietly through private negotiation, but the other party showed no willingness to accept reason or come to a reasonable agreement. We therefore had no choice but to bring this matter before the authorities.
Item: Regarding the communal mountain, there is no record of acreage (chōbu), and access has been conducted using the plot names, character names, and general names applicable at the time. There are no written boundary records based on the Fujikawa cutoff, ridgeline paths, or village boundary lines in general, but the evidence that we have [been coming to this mountain] is——

——that the places from which grasses and timber are brought down from the mountain plots are called "arashi" (cleared/harvested areas), and there are limitless such areas that suffice for our daily needs. Item: As for our village, beyond the repairs needed for the current flood damage, we have fallen into the depths of poverty, and have no means by which to restore ourselves within the domain. We suffer to the utmost degree. Furthermore, even in the fields that remain after the flooding, the soil is a mixture of sandy subsoil (mane tsuchi) and fine sand, making them poor agricultural land——
