所御田地難不足ニ而は耕作事
不申且又地元村々違ひ立林
等一向無御座野山斗り之草木
を以渡世営候所入会山被授候
は已来両村可相立救不及申上るに

御田地が不足では耕作もできませんし、また地元の村々には立林（自村所有の林）も一切なく、野山の草木のみをもって暮らしを営んでおります。入会山をご承認いただけなくなりますと、今後両村が存続・生活できなくなるばかりか、御年貢の御上納も困難となります。
つきましては、小出村をお召し出しいただき、ご吟味のうえ、先年（以前）のとおり滞りなく（山に）立ち入れますよう、お命じくださいますようお願い申し上げます。何卒、御慈悲をもってお願いのとおりにお命じくださいますれば、百姓一同、ありがたく幸いに存じ奉ります。以上。

Without sufficient farmland, cultivation is impossible. Furthermore, the villages in this area have no private-use forests (tate-hayashi) whatsoever, and we have sustained our livelihoods solely through the grasses and timber of the open mountains and fields. Should we be denied access to the communal mountain, not only will it become impossible for both villages to sustain themselves going forward, but we will also be unable to fulfill our annual tax obligations (nengu) to the authorities.
We therefore humbly request that Koide Village be summoned and examined, and that, following the precedent of previous years, an order be issued permitting us unobstructed access [to the mountain] as before. We most earnestly beseech you that, in your benevolence, you grant our petition as requested, and if it should please you to do so, all the peasants of our villages will be deeply and gratefully relieved. Respectfully submitted.
