（以上述べました）ところ、少しも相違はございません。当両村の義は、幸いにも山の元村（本来の所有村）にございますが、（山への）立ち入りの者が数多くございますところに、新田村より願い出た通りにいたしますならば、山が荒廃してしまい、当両村のほか、立ち入り方の者たちにまで順々に（悪影響が）及ぶおそれがございます。これにより、難義（困難・難儀）至極に存じ奉ります。何とぞ御見分（現地調査）をなされ下さいますよう、お願い申し上げます。お上様の御慈悲をもちまして、元々の通りに仰せ付けいただき下し置かれますれば、■■■■両惣（そう）百姓一同、有難く仕り奉り

Although our two villages are fortunately the original villages (moto-mura) with rightful claim to the mountain, there are already many parties entering [the mountain], and if matters were to proceed as Shinden Village has petitioned, the mountain would be devastated, and the harmful effects would likely spread in turn not only to our two villages but also to all other parties who use the mountain. For this reason, we find ourselves in the most extreme hardship and difficulty. We humbly beseech you to please conduct an on-site inspection. If, through the benevolence of the authorities, we are commanded that things be restored to their original state, all the peasantry of both villages, ■■■■, will be most grateful and humbly—
