当二月七日に京極備前守様へお渡しした御書付について
御目付へ
諸家の供回りが華美にならないよう度々通達したところ、渡り奉公人や町雇いの者等が今もって不法な行いがあるとの趣が聞こえています。朔望その他の出仕時、または対客・登城の前において、度々御小人目付が回って不法な様子を見かけた場合は、早速供頭へ相談し、名前を書き取って差し出すよう申し付けるべきです。もちろん平日においても注意するよう申し付けるべきです。
当三月中に御老中様方、若しくは御年寄様方で相談されたとのこと、内々の筋から承りました。
部屋番並びに供回りの衣服について
これまでも申し合わせがあった御事なので、一同華美なことはありませんが、なお今後は左の通り申し付けるべきです。

Regarding the written directive issued to Lord Kyōgoku Bizen-no-kami on the 7th day of the second month:
To the Inspector (Ometsuke):
Although we have repeatedly issued notices that the retinues of various houses should not be extravagant, it has come to our attention that traveling servants and town-hired personnel continue to engage in improper conduct. During attendance on the first and fifteenth of the month and other occasions, or before receiving guests and going to the castle, whenever the junior inspectors (okobito-metsuke) observe improper behavior during their rounds, they should immediately consult with the retinue head, record the names, and submit a report. Naturally, they should also be instructed to remain vigilant on ordinary days.
We have learned through private channels that during the third month, consultations were held among the Senior Councilors (Rōjū) or possibly the Junior Elders (Wakadoshiyori).
Regarding the clothing of room attendants and retinue members:
Since there have been previous agreements on this matter, none of the group engages in extravagance, but henceforth the following shall be enforced:
