右の通り芦屋に在勤している間、天気の良い日に小船頭が沖見に出る漁船などに尋ねたところ、「晴天で日和が良い日には唐船が乾（北西）の方角に当たって遠沖に見えることもございます」と申した。御船手（藩の船舶担当役人）より沖見に出るときには見えるとのことであった。
右の交代として、子年三月五日に芦屋へ差し立てられた。

During their stationed duty at Ashiya as described above, on days with good weather when the boat captains went out for offshore observation, they inquired of fishing boats and were told: "On clear days with favorable weather, the Chinese ship can sometimes be seen in the distant waters in the northwestern direction." The naval officials reported that it could be seen when they went out for offshore observation.
As relief for the above, personnel were dispatched to Ashiya on the 5th day of the 3rd month of the year of the rat.
