るゝ故、海辺に出て水を咂（ふく）み、亦化して沙魚（わにさめ）と
なる、桔梗扶桑花開く、
○七月十三日、門外に迎火の炬火（たいまつ）を照して先祖を
迎へ、十五日の盆供など、日本と替りたる事なし
此月、竜眼肉実を結ぶ、
○八月十五夜、月を拝す、白露を八月の節句とし
赤飯を作て相餉（あいおく）る、其前後三日が間、男女戸を閉（とぢ）
て業（わざ）を休む、是を守天孫（しゆてんそん）と号す、此間に角口（いさかひ）な
とすれば、かならず蛇に噛（かま）るゝとなり、木芙蓉（もくふやう）花

○九月梅花開き、霜始て降り、雷声を収め蛇
はなはだ害を為す、此月の蛇に傷（きず）つけらるれば、立
どころに死す故に、八月の守天孫に、三日か間つゝし
むなり、田は尽く墾（あらき）ばりし、麦（むき）の種（たね）を下す、《割書：麦は三月実｜のるなり》
○十月蛇穴に蟄（ちつ）し、虹（にじ）蔵（かくれ）て見えす、小児は紙鳶（いかのぼり）

を出す、其外にさせる事なし、
○十二月、庚子（かのえね）庚午（かのえうま）に当る日に逢ば、糯米（もちこめ）の粉を
椶（しゆろ）の葉にて、三重四重に包み、蒸篭（せいらう）にてむし

るゆえ、海辺に出て水を含み、また化して沙魚となる。桔梗、扶桑花が開く。
○七月十三日、門外に迎え火の松明を照らして先祖を迎え、十五日の盆供養など、日本と変わったことはない。この月、竜眼肉が実を結ぶ。
○八月十五夜、月を拝む。白露を八月の節句とし、赤飯を作って互いに贈る。その前後三日の間、男女は戸を閉じて仕事を休む。これを守天孫と呼ぶ。この間に喧嘩などをすれば、必ず蛇に噛まれるという。木芙蓉の花が咲く。
○九月梅花が開き、霜が初めて降り、雷の音が収まり、蛇がはなはだ害をなす。この月の蛇に傷つけられれば、たちどころに死ぬので、八月の守天孫に、三日間慎むのである。田はすべて耕されて、麦の種を蒔く。《割書：麦は三月に実るのである》
○十月蛇が穴に潜み、虹が隠れて見えず、小児は凧を上げる。
○十一月、水仙、寒菊が開き、枸杞が紅色に色づき、蚯蚓が窩を出る。その他に特別なことはない。

○On the 15th night of the 8th month, they worship the moon. They treat the white dew period as the 8th month festival and make red rice to give to each other. For three days before and after this time, men and women close their doors and rest from work. This is called "Shutenson" (Protecting the Heavenly Grandson). It is said that if one quarrels during this period, they will surely be bitten by a snake. Confederate roses bloom.
○In the 9th month, plum blossoms open, frost falls for the first time, thunder ceases, and snakes cause great harm. If one is injured by a snake in this month, they die immediately. ○In the 10th month, snakes hibernate in their holes, rainbows are hidden and cannot be seen, and children fly kites.
○In the 11th month, narcissus and winter chrysanthemums bloom, wolfberries turn crimson, and earthworms emerge from their burrows. There are no other particular events.
○In the 12th month, when days corresponding to kanoe-ne or kanoe-uma arrive, they wrap glutinous rice flour in palm leaves in three or four layers and steam it in bamboo steamers.
