**月本国地理**
『節用集』の首書に曰く、
神武天皇が日本の形をご覧になったところ、秋津虫（とんぼ）の姿に似ていたとして、日本を「秋津洲」とお名付けになった。
この時、月本国（くわつほんこく＝遊郭）においても、人皇の始め、庄司甚衛武（しんゑむ）天皇と申す者が、お内儀（おかみさん＝遊郭の主人の妻）に月本の形を見せていただいたところ、「浮気」という字の形であったので、大いにあきれなさり、すなわち「秋津洲」の響きを借りて「あきれんす」とお名付けになった。

**Geography of the Land of Kuwa-hon (the Pleasure Quarters)**
As written in the headnotes of the *Setsuyōshū* (a popular dictionary):
When Emperor Jinmu observed the shape of Japan, he found it resembled the form of a dragonfly (*akitsu mushi*), and thus named Japan "Akitsu-su" (the Isle of the Dragonfly).
At this same time, in the Land of Kuwa-hon (the pleasure quarters), at the beginning of the reign of human sovereigns, one called Shōji Shin'emu (a parody name for the administrator/proprietor of the quarter) had the mistress of the establishment display the shape of Kuwa-hon. Upon seeing it, he found it took the shape of the character for "infidelity" (*uwaki*, written 上キ), and was greatly astounded (*akireta*). Accordingly, borrowing the sound of "Akitsu-su," he named it "Akiren-su" (the Isle of Astonishment/Stupefaction).
