いふ今はとりわき地の風情を見る也此池の名を以
此郡の名とする事此池の手がらと云べし一たひ

という。今は特に地の風情を見るのである。この池の名をもってこの郡の名とすることは、この池の手柄と言うべきである。一度この池にはまった者は上がることが難しいという。それゆえ恐ろしい池と言うべきである。

That people long for it in the same way as truly spectacular locations is one mystery, like the Yahata Shirazu Forest.
