○揚屋満池（あげやまち）。いにしえは揚屋島とて絶景（ぜつけい）なる
島〳〵あまた有しが段々にかけくづれて。今は
茶島 商（あきびと）島のみ残れる事なげかはしき事也。
せめて一島にてもむかしのごとく。揚屋島を築（つき）
立たき物と。他国（たこく）の事をいらぬ世話ながら思ふ也
○中之 潮（てう）。五州へわたるに皆此入海より乗入￣ル也。

○大門灘（をゝもんなだ）。衣紋海（ゑもんかい）より中之潮へ入￣ル灘（なだ）也。此灘を

く此所を通りがたし

右の▲印（五十六箇所）△印（七十一箇所）は、合わせて五州の名所・旧跡である。
△印のものも▲印に劣るというわけではない。
後編を待って評価するために、しばらくここでは
省いておく。
○揚屋満池（あげやまち） 昔は揚屋島といって、絶景の
島々が数多くあったが、だんだんと欠け崩れて、今は
茶島・商人島のみが残っているのは嘆かわしいことである。
せめて一島でも昔のように、揚屋島を築き
立てたいものと、他国のことながら余計なお世話とは思いつつも、そう思うのである。
○中之潮（なかのてう） 五州へ渡るには、皆この入海より乗り入るのである。

○伏見瀬（ふしみてう） 二町国の北東にある。左右に茶島がある。
○大門灘（おおもんなだ） 衣紋海（えもんかい）より中之潮へ入る灘である。この灘を
過ぎなければ五州へ入ることはできない。婦人はたやす
くこの所を通りがたい。

The locations marked with ▲ (fifty-six) and those marked with △ (seventy-one) are all famous places and historic sites of the Five Provinces.
It is not that the △-marked places are inferior to those marked with ▲.
They are omitted here for the time being, as they are to be evaluated in the sequel volume.
○Ageyamachi (揚屋満池) In former times, there were many islands of magnificent scenery known as Ageyajima, but over time they have crumbled away, and now only Chajima and Akinbitojima remain — a most lamentable state of affairs.
Even if just one island could be built up again as Ageyajima was in the old days — though it is not my place to meddle in the affairs of another province, I cannot help but feel this way.
○Nakanotide (中之潮) To cross over to the Five Provinces, one must enter by way of this inlet. There are many Chajima (tea islands) on both left and right.
○Fushimise (伏見瀬) Located to the northeast of Nichōkoku. There are Chajima on both sides.
○Ōmon Straits (大門灘) These are the straits leading from Emонkai (衣紋海) into the Nakanotide. One cannot enter the Five Provinces without passing through these straits. Women find it difficult to pass through this place with ease.
