……などと。この（吉原細見の）粗漏を見て、「小田原評定（おだわらひょうじょう）」やれやれ。吉原（の案内書）が外れることも、もとより覚悟のうえのこと。それは（小田原の名薬）外郎（ういろう）、こちらは青楼（吉原）——三つの音色に色艶を添えて。茶色の表紙やら口拍子（はやし言葉）。時の調子に取り合わせて、ひとまず『娼妃地理記』と題するのみ。

…and so forth. Seeing all these gaps and errors (in the Yoshiwara Saiken), one can only throw up one's hands — "an Odawara council," as they say. That the Yoshiwara guide should fall wide of the mark is something one must accept from the outset. That is the famous ointment of Odawara; this here is the Blue Tower (the Yoshiwara) — adorning three melodic tones with extra color and luster. A tea-brown cover and rhythmic flourishes of the mouth. Matching the mood of the times, for now I simply entitle it: *Shōhi Chiriki* (A Geographical Record of Courtesans).
