甚（はなはた）こそばゆがりてこけつまろひつ笑（わら）ひ
しゆへ。鉾（ほこ）のしたゞりいのごとなり股（もゝ）の
付根へこりかたまつて一ツの島（しま）となる。
これを南瞻部州（なんせんぶしう）豊葦原（とよあしはら）大（たい）日本国と
号す。又おのころ島といふも彼いのこの響
なるべし。其後これを六十六ヶ国にわかち。
一国の内にて又 郡（こほり）といふ物をわけられ
しこと。これ皆さま御そんじの御事也。
然るに其比又 胡弉諾（こさなき）胡弉冊（こさなみ）とて婦夫（ふうふ）の
御神おはします。此神は変（へん）手子立 尊（のみこと）より変（へん）
神（しん）七代目の御神にて。異神（いしん）五代のとゝさま
かゝさまにてわたらせ給ふ。此神大のふらつ
きよにてましますにより。負（まけ）けぬ気に成り
給ひ。おれも国といふものを拵（こしらへ）て見んと思召。
天（あま）の浮橋（うきはし）は釜（かま）の鱚釣（きすつり０よりも眩睴（けんうん）なれば
今戸さんやの橋の上より。鮫（さめ）のかま□□□【かまほこを】

（葦原が）はなはだくすぐったがって、ころころと転げ回りながら笑ったため、鉾のしたたり（滴り）が精のようになって、股の付け根に固まって一つの島となった。
これを南贍部洲・豊葦原・大日本国と号す。また「おのころ島」というのも、あの「いのこ（精・猪子）」の響きから来るものであろう。その後これを六十六か国に分かち、一国の内にてまた「郡」というものを分けられたこと、これは皆様ご存知のことである。
さて、その頃また伊弉諾（いざなぎ）・伊弉冊（いざなみ）という夫婦の御神がおいでになる。この神は変手子立尊より変神七代目の御神にて、異神五代のお父上・お母上にていらっしゃる。この神は大変なふらつき者でいらっしゃるために、負けん気になられて、「おれも国というものを拵えて見よう」とお思いになり、天の浮橋は釜の鱚釣りよりも眩暈（めまい）がするほど高いので、今戸・山谷の橋の上から、鮫のかま【ぼこを】……

The Reed Plain found this so extremely ticklish that it rolled about laughing, and because of this, the drippings from the spear became like seed (vital essence), congealed at the base of the thighs, and formed a single island. This is what is called Nansenbushū, Toyoashihara, the Great Land of Japan. Moreover, the name "Onokoroshima" likely derives from the sound of that very "inoko" (seed/piglet). After this, the land was divided into sixty-six provinces, and within each province further divided into districts called "kōri" — all of which, dear readers, you are no doubt already aware.
Now, around that same time there were also divine husband and wife called Izanagi and Izanami. These deities were the seventh generation of gods descended from Hentekodachi no Mikoto, and served as the father and mother of the five generations of foreign deities.
