現代語訳
百貫が織り、紙は必ず付き山、大花盛り
そこここに煙管の会ということが流行り、けしからぬ値の高い煙管を思いのほかおびただしく集め、一二三の階級をつける。昔は煙管筒と名付けていたが、このように煙管が大層になっては、今は煙管筒とは言わず煙管袋という。
「悪い地口も汗の出るものだ。これでは風邪が治ろう。」
「さてさて、きつい、お聞きでございます。」
「きついものあやまり入る。目には花々。」
「これこれ、それは煙管の会ではなくて、洒落の会に紛いの簪。」
「その煙管袋は竹山町と見えます。雁首の付け具合、吸い口の吸い方、仕方極めがなくても、紛いなしの硯箱だ。」
