現代語訳
ここに池の端の住人、住吉内記という煙管鍛冶がいた。明け暮れ一子がないことを悲しんで、浦島の宮へ日参していたところ、鉄の観音を食すという夢を見て懐妊し、十月を待って出産したところ、はたして黒鉄の玉二つを産んだとは、けしからぬと思ったが、中国にもこのような例があるという。その白銀に銘剣を打ったということで、諸戦を打っても、この節は流行らないので、大武だと、いろいろと工夫をこらして、鉄の針の針分けの煙管を売ろうと大いに喜んでいる。
そもそも浦島大明神は竜宮城で乙姫に玉手箱をもらい、開いて見れば、箱の中より煙草一服ほどの煙が出て、たちまちとんだ老爺となった。これで煙草一服の楽しきことを知る。程過ぎて煙管鍛冶の神と仰がれるようになった。

「天から天から、この身を竹田のからくりに仕掛けるであろう」
英語訳
Here lived a pipe craftsman named Sumiyoshi Naiki at Ikenohata. Day and night he grieved over having no children, and while making daily visits to Urashima Shrine, he dreamed of eating an iron Kannon statue. His wife then became pregnant, and after waiting ten months for the birth, she indeed gave birth to two black iron balls - which seemed outrageous, but there are similar examples in China. It is said that famous swords were forged from such silver. Even if he forges various weapons, they are not popular these days, so he calls himself "Great Warrior" and devises various innovations, rejoicing greatly at the prospect of selling pipes made from iron needle divisions.
Originally, Urashima Daimyojin received a jeweled box from the Dragon Princess at the Dragon Palace. When he opened it, smoke equivalent to one puff of tobacco emerged from the box, and he instantly became a decrepit old man. Through this he learned the pleasure of one puff of tobacco. As time passed, he came to be revered as the god of pipe craftsmen.
