乍恐以書付奉願上候事
一 私《割書：義｜》先年石切旅稼仕甲州巨摩郡嶋上条村
新平と申者定宿にて数年石工職仕候処天保十三寅年
十二月名主御役儀被 仰付候に付石工丁場株之義は
山室村三郎右衛門弟定治郎に譲呉候様申に付文化十酉年ゟ
天保十三寅年迄三十年之諸帳面幷積置候石
家財諸道具夜具蒲団蚊屋畳石切道具迄不残

一、私は先年石切の出稼ぎをして、甲州巨摩郡嶋上条村の新平という者を定宿として数年石工の職を務めていたところ、天保十三年寅年十二月に名主の役職を仰せ付けられたため、石工丁場株については山室村三郎右衛門の弟である定治郎に譲ってほしいと申されたので、文化十年酉年から天保十三年寅年まで三十年間の諸帳面並びに積み置いていた石、家財諸道具、夜具蒲団、蚊帳、畳、石切道具まで残らず譲渡いたしました。その代わりに天保十四年癸卯年から来る子年まで十ヶ年の間、年々一ヶ年に金三両ずつを右の三郎右衛門が請け負って、定治郎方から私の方へ間違いなく差し遣わすという約束をいたしました。その他に金子十五両余りの前払い細工貸しになっていた分も、受け取り次第送り遣わしてくれるという相談を済ませておいたところ、卯年に金二両、辰年に金一両、巳年に金二分、都合三両二分を三ヶ年に遣わしてくれましたが、その後数度催促いたしましても、旅先で病気をしたとか、また細工貸しになったと申して、私の方へは金子を一向に差し遣わしません。そのうちに村方の丈右衛門の母後家が極めて困窮していて家屋敷だけで無高の所へ養子に入り、大掛かりな家作をいたし

Item: I previously engaged in stone-cutting work as a traveling laborer, and for several years worked as a stonemason with one Shinpei of Shimakamijoson Village in Koma District, Koshu Province, as my regular lodging. However, when I was appointed to the position of village headman in the 12th month of Tenpo 13 (1842), Year of the Tiger, I was asked to transfer my stone quarry concession rights to Teijiro, the younger brother of Saburoemon of Yamumuro Village. Therefore, I transferred to him without exception all account books from Bunka 10 (1813), Year of the Rooster, through Tenpo 13 (1842), Year of the Tiger—a period of thirty years—along with the accumulated stones, household goods and tools, bedding and futon, mosquito nets, tatami mats, and stone-cutting tools. In exchange, we made an agreement that from Tenpo 14 (1843), Year of the Rabbit, through the coming Year of the Rat, over a period of ten years, three ryo of gold per year would be sent without fail from Teijiro's household to mine, with the aforementioned Saburoemon acting as guarantor. Additionally, we arranged that he would send the remaining fifteen ryo or more in gold that had been advanced for craftwork as soon as he received payment. In the third year of the Rabbit he sent two ryo, in the Year of the Dragon one ryo, and in the Year of the Snake two bu—a total of three ryo and two bu over three years. However, despite my repeated demands thereafter, he claims to have fallen ill while traveling or to have incurred new craftwork advances, and has sent no money whatsoever to my household. Meanwhile, he became an adopted son-in-law to the impoverished widow of one Jōemon in the village, who possessed only a house and residence but no rice field assessment, and undertook major construction work on the house.
