           田中丈左衛門              初 治左衛門 慎護院様御代 一 宝永二酉十二月格式御徒士御取立金弐分   御加金高四両被成下     但何頃ゟ相勤候哉不相知元禄末     御勘定方下役相勤高三両弐分二人     扶持と相見へ候 真如院様御代 一 正徳四午十一月廿九日格式御供番御勘定方   被 仰付壱両御加金高五両被成下御用人   支配此前奥津清蔵支配 一 同五未八月十五日《場所:江戸》御勘定方引越被   仰付弐両御加金高七両被成下    但不如意其上厄介多ニ付御断申上年    々御在所ゟ罷越御役相勤候と相見江候 一 享保三戌十二月七日分一方添役被 仰付 一 同五子五月廿日分一方本役被 「(朱筆)田中丈」

現代語訳

田中丈左衛門 初名 治左衛門 慎護院様の御代 一 宝永二年酉(1705年)十二月、格式として御徒士に御取り立てされ、金二分をご加金いただき、高四両を成し下された   ただし、いつ頃から勤めていたかは分からないが、元禄末期に御勘定方の下役を勤めており、高三両二分二人扶持であったと見える 真如院様の御代 一 正徳四年午(1714年)十一月二十九日、格式として御供番御勘定方を仰せ付けられ、一両をご加金いただき、高五両を成し下された。御用人支配で、この前は奥津清蔵の支配であった 一 同五年未(1715年)八月十五日、江戸において御勘定方への引越を仰せ付けられ、二両をご加金いただき、高七両を成し下された   ただし、不如意でその上厄介が多いため御断り申し上げ、年々御在所から参上して御役を勤めていると見える 一 享保三年戌(1718年)十二月七日、分一方添役を仰せ付けられた 一 同五年子(1720年)五月二十日、分一方本役を(仰せ付けられた) 「(朱筆)田中丈」

Tanaka Jōzaemon Original name: Jizaemon During the reign of Lord Shingo-in - In December of Hōei 2, year of Tori (1705), he was promoted to the rank of o-kachi (foot soldier) and received an additional stipend of 2 bu in gold, bringing his total to 4 ryō  Note: It is unclear when he began his service, but it appears that he served as a subordinate in the accounting department (go-kanjō-kata) at the end of the Genroku era, with a stipend of 3 ryō 2 bu and rations for 2 people During the reign of Lord Shinnyo-in - On November 29th of Shōtoku 4, year of Uma (1714), he was appointed to escort duty and accounting department (go-tomōban go-kanjō-kata), received an additional 1 ryō, bringing his total to 5 ryō. He was under the supervision of a chief retainer, previously under Okutsu Seizō's supervision - On August 15th of Shōtoku 5, year of Hitsuji (1715), he was ordered to transfer to the accounting department in Edo and received an additional 2 ryō, bringing his total to 7 ryō  Note: Due to financial difficulties and many burdensome responsibilities, he declined and appears to have traveled annually from his home domain to fulfill his duties - On December 7th of Kyōhō 3, year of Inu (1718), he was appointed as assistant to the revenue collection department (bunichi-kata soe-yaku) - On May 20th of Kyōhō 5, year of Ne (1720), he was appointed to the main position in the revenue collection department (bunichi-kata hon-yaku) "(In red ink) Tanaka Jō"
