His duties remained the same as before, but he was relieved of his role as inspector of middle pages.

- Same 7th year, Year of the Earth Dog (1778), 9th month, 11th day: Appointed to personal attendant service
- Tenmei 5, Year of the Wood Snake (1785), 10th month, 23rd day: Appointed as gold magistrate and small implements officer
- Same 8th year, Year of the Earth Monkey (1788), 6th month, 24th day: Appointed as temporary meal service officer
- Kansei 1, Year of the Earth Rooster (1789), 2nd month, 15th day: Appointed concurrently as personal attendant inspector and small treasury officer; relieved of temporary meal service duties
- Same 2nd year, Year of the Dog (1790), 7th month, 23rd day: While Watōji was accompanying the lord to Osaka, he was wounded by a deranged person on the night of the 19th at Kanaya station and committed suicide. Until the official judgment, his entire household was placed under the care of Koizumi Uzaemon.
