　たさらさるゆへ生しかたし秋おそくうふれは
　寒気すてに地に生してたね生しかたし生
　しても長しかたし
又日 種植（シユシヨク）第一のつとめは糞をあつむるにありと
　いへり糞をあつむるの法一ならす人の糞尿人
　のゆあみたる水 六畜（チク）の糞せゝなきの泥水
　かまとの灰かまとのやけ土 溝（ミソ）の泥河泥魚鳥を
　洗ひたる水魚鳥のわた又くさりたるわらかや
　及草木の葉皆是糞となる又朝夕糧米を
　洗ふ泔（シロミツ）を器を定めそれに入置て久しく
　くさらかし菜根ことにふきの根にそゝくへし半
　は溺（イバリ）を加（クハ）へてよし白水はかりそゝけは後に
　地かたまる故なり
暑熱の時草木に水をそゝくには朝夕よし日中
　をいむ晩に地気いまたさめざる時水をそゝ
　くへからす早朝そゝくをよしとす晩にも地
　気さめておそくそゝくへし
罌粟（ケシ）胡蘿蔔（ニンジン）萵苣（チサ）なと種子（タネ）をまきて後日に
　あたりかはきてうるほひなけれは生しかたし
　まきたる上に竹のたなをかまへむしろこもを

だ残らないので生えにくい。秋遅く植えれば寒気が既に地に生じて種が生えにくい。生えても成長しにくい。

また日く「種植第一の勤めは糞を集めることにある」と言っている。糞を集める方法は一つではない。人の糞尿、人の湯浴みした水、家畜の糞、下水の泥水、竈の灰、竈の焼け土、溝の泥、河の泥、魚鳥を洗った水、魚鳥の内臓、また腐った藁や茅、及び草木の葉、皆これ肥料となる。また朝夕に米を洗う米のとぎ汁を決まった容器に入れ置いて長く腐らせ、菜の根、特に蕗の根に注ぐべきである。半分は小便を加えて良い。米のとぎ汁ばかり注げば後に地面が固まるからである。

暑熱の時に草木に水を注ぐには朝夕が良い。日中は避ける。晩に地気がまだ冷めない時に水を注いではならない。早朝に注ぐのを良しとする。晩にも地気が冷めて遅く注ぐべきである。
