現代語訳
案の通り盗人が大勢入りは入ったが、あまりの大金ゆえ持ち出す工夫や煮炊きの準備に手間取り、夜も明け方になってしまった。金を盗むことは置いて、別の所で盗んできた金箱や色々な道具まで持って出にくくなってしまったのか。
夫婦が帰ってきた声を聞くと、その身ばかり足を頼りに逃げていく。

まさかもう盗んで帰りましたでしょう。

お帰りなさいませ。

それだからまあ少しばかりでも取ればよかったものを。脇で盗んだのまで置いて行くとは、当人の脛に味噌をつけた洗議だ。
とかく思うように金も減らねば、また色々と思案し、京・大坂から大和巡りと心指し、道々の費用も考えて一日に二三里ぐらいずつ、ふらりふらりと行きけり。
丁度［金川］【神奈川宿】止まりでよろしゅうございましょう。
神奈川は金の縁が煩わしいから、日が高くても［川崎］へ泊まろうそ。
四五分里もただお歩きなされてくださりませ。
この用でお金をつけると申すのは馬のためのご祈祷になります。

Since the money won't decrease as he wishes no matter what he tries, he devises various new plans. Setting his heart on traveling from Kyoto and Osaka to Yamato pilgrimage, considering the expenses along the way, he travels leisurely at about two to three ri per day.
It would be just right to stop at [Kanagawa] [Kanagawa post station].
Since Kanagawa has troublesome connections with money (kane), even though the sun is high, let's stay at [Kawasaki] instead.
Please just walk four or five bu-ri more.
Adding money for this purpose is said to become a prayer for the horse.
