打払玉込ニ而打懸候事何程ニ可有之哉との詮議ニ而
薬計込候而打せ候間文右衛門弥右衛門甚太夫三人門弟中へ
此段とくと可申談候必玉込申間敷旨重畳被仰
聞候且又銘々乗船御用丸簀板之下ニ玉薬箱潜
入置可申由是は唐船若手向いたし候節之為用心
也扨打払之刻打候薬は銘々／皮袋（ドウラン）ニ入致附札
久野善右衛門方へ遣置可申候沖にて打候節善右衛門

様ニ上使被仰付荷船弐艘《割書：宝徳丸｜宮市丸》乗込曳船五艘付
同二月十三日若松出船小倉へ参春雨打降り風立中ノ
島前ニ繋居候【ルヵ】処ニ同日九ツ時分小倉より喜多村
弥次兵衛久野善右衛門より以使船《割書：鯨｜舟之》林文右衛門若松甚太夫
臼杵弥右衛門江手紙来る外記殿来島治兵衛江被仰聞候
は福岡より之抱大筒打候者は小倉へ参居候哉と御尋

【右丁】
打ち払いの際に玉込め（実弾装填）で撃ちかけることがどの程度あるだろうかという詮議で、火薬だけを込めて撃つようにとのことで、文右衛門・弥右衛門・甚太夫の三人は門弟たちにこの件をよく申し談じるように、決して玉込めをしてはならない旨を重ねて仰せ聞かされた。また、それぞれの乗船の御用丸の簀板の下に玉薬箱を潜ませ入れ置くようにとのこと。これは唐船が もし手向かいをした場合の用心のためである。さて、打ち払いの時に撃つ火薬は、それぞれ皮袋（胴乱）に入れて付札をし、久野善右衛門方へ遣わし置くように。沖で撃つ際には善右衛門の乗船で、それぞれの胴乱を受け取って火薬を込めるようにと仰せ聞かされた。そこで善右衛門方へそれぞれ皮袋に火薬だけを入れて付札をし、あらかじめ遣わし置いた。
一 外記殿は唐船打ち払いの件を急がれているが、この頃風が立ち波が高く、船方もうまくいかず、外記殿も御心配に思われ、毎日小倉波戸浜より御見分をされている。唐船は十一艘で、白島から六つ、連島並びから内に漂泊している。

若松在勤の筒役の士二十人並びに手伝いを召し連れて小倉へ参るようにと上使が仰せ付けられ、荷船二艘《割書：宝徳丸、宮市丸》に乗り込み、曳船五艘を付けて、同二月十三日若松を出船して小倉へ参った。春雨が降り風が立つ中、中の島前に繋ぎ留めていたところ、同日九つ時分に小倉より喜多村弥次兵衛・久野善右衛門から使船《割書：鯨舟の》で林文右衛門・若松甚太夫・臼杵弥右衛門へ手紙が来た。外記殿が来島治兵衛へ仰せ聞かされたのは、福岡からの抱え大筒を撃つ者は小倉へ参っているかとの御尋ね

In deliberations about how often they would fire with loaded shot when repelling [the ships], it was decided they would fire with gunpowder only. The three men - Bun'emon, Yaemon, and Jintayū - were repeatedly instructed to discuss this matter thoroughly with their disciples and never to load shot. Furthermore, they were told to conceal ammunition boxes under the bamboo decking of their respective official vessels. This was as a precaution in case the Chinese ships offered resistance. Now, the gunpowder to be fired during the repulsion was to be placed in individual leather pouches (dōran) with attached tags and sent to Kuno Zen'emon's quarters. When firing at sea, they were instructed that Zen'emon would distribute the individual pouches from his vessel so each could load their gunpowder. Accordingly, they sent individual leather pouches containing only gunpowder with attached tags to Zen'emon's quarters in advance.
One Although Geki-dono was pressing urgently for the repulsion of the Chinese ships, the wind had been strong and waves high recently, making navigation difficult. Geki-dono was concerned and conducted daily inspections from Kokura's Hato beach. There were eleven Chinese ships drifting at anchor, six from Shirajima and the remainder from near Tsunashima.

The superior envoy ordered that twenty artillery officers stationed at Wakamatsu, along with their assistants, should come to Kokura. They boarded two cargo vessels《marginal note: Hōtoku-maru and Miyaichi-maru》 with five towing boats attached, departed Wakamatsu on February 13th, and headed for Kokura. With spring rain falling and wind rising, they moored in front of Nakanoshima island. Around 9 o'clock that same day, a letter arrived via messenger boat《marginal note: whale boat》 from Kitamura Yajibē and Kuno Zen'emon in Kokura to Hayashi Bun'emon, Wakamatsu Jintayū, and Usuki Yaemon. What Geki-dono asked Kurushima Jihē was whether the hired large cannon operators from Fukuoka had arrived at Kokura.
