帆影笹ノ葉程ニ相見候弥退散と相見ル扨三領聞番
翌十六日早々外記殿御旅宿江参り候へは御逢被成候而夜
前ハ何方も相働候而唐船打払被申候故早々退散珍重候
今日江戸へ言上可被成候御挨拶被成皆々罷帰ル後ニ来島
治兵衛ニ被仰候は夜前筑前之筒役幷船方他領よりも
取分情ヲ出相働見事に相見候流石御家柄と御挨拶
被成候其後三領よりも大早ニ而早々江戸へ言上有之筑前
よりは山路弥右衛門《割書：目付｜役》十六日ニ若松ゟ直ニ罷立且又十七日之
夜外記殿三領之聞番ニ召寄唐船弥不相見候間四領
共ニ先引取居申上様ニ被仰渡候間十八日之朝塩ニいつれも

【右丁】
帆影が笹の葉ほどに見え、いよいよ退散と見える。さて三領の聞番は、翌十六日早々に外記殿の御旅宿へ参ったところ、御対面いただき「昨夜はどの方面でも相働いて唐船を打ち払われたので、早々に退散した。珍重である。今日江戸へ言上いたします」との御挨拶をされ、皆々退出した後に、来島治兵衛に仰せられたのは「昨夜の筑前の筒役並びに船方は、他領よりも取り分け情を出して相働き、見事に見えた。流石は御家柄である」との御挨拶をされた。その後三領からも大急ぎで早々に江戸へ言上があり、筑前からは山路弥右衛門《目付役》が十六日に若松から直に出立した。また十七日の夜、外記殿が三領の聞番を召し寄せ「唐船がいよいよ見えなくなったので、四領共にまず引き取るよう」仰せ渡されたので、十八日の朝の潮時にいずれも若松へ帰着した。

The sail shadows appeared as small as bamboo leaves, showing they were indeed withdrawing. Now, the three domains' liaison officers went to Lord Geki's lodgings early on the following 16th day, where they were received and told: "Last night all quarters worked together and drove off the Chinese ships, so they withdrew quickly. This is commendable. I will report this to Edo today." After this greeting and everyone's departure, he said to Kurushima Jihei: "Last night Chikuzen's gunners and naval forces showed exceptional dedication compared to other domains and performed admirably. This is truly befitting of your house's reputation." Afterward, the three domains also hastily sent reports to Edo, and from Chikuzen, Yamaji Yaemon (inspector) departed directly from Wakamatsu on the 16th. Also, on the night of the 17th, Lord Geki summoned the liaison officers of the three domains and announced: "Since the Chinese ships are no longer visible, all four domains should withdraw for now." Therefore, at the morning tide on the 18th, everyone returned to Wakamatsu.
