He was quite accomplished in Buddhist practice. Matsuju ran in crying for help. Looking around in all directions, there was no place to hide, so the monk had him lie down inside the great bell and ordered three disciples to guard beside the bell. When the woman came, the three monks playfully teased and chased her away. The woman, unable to get Matsuju, looked up and wept like a madwoman, then left through the gate. When the monk opened the bell, there was a sound, so the woman returned and rushed in. Just as she was about to commit evil acts, she suddenly let her hair down, changed her form, and entered the bell. Futoku and the other monks surrounded the bell and chanted spells against her. The woman hung upside down from the bell, stuck out her head showing a demon's face, and holding a trident in her hand, struck at the monks from below. The monks continued chanting without stopping, whereupon great thunder and lightning occurred outside the temple. The woman transformed into a demon and ran out, disappearing to an unknown location. These two tales are both events that occurred in the country a hundred years ago. The fourth act is the "Heavenly Grandson Song of Great Peace" with more than fifty people in total. First, one ascetic with disheveled hair, holding a white wooden staff, leads small children dressed in five-colored robes. They wear flower ornaments on their foreheads, various colored banana-leaf armor around their waists, and each has inserted one chrysanthemum branch and one golden spinning staff. A total of nineteen people take the stage, turn left to form a circle and stand as the first layer. Next, twenty men in various red and green mixed robes take the stage, turn right and stand as the second layer. Next, two small children in colorful robes hold small hand drums, two men in mixed robes hold bronze gongs, and eight people hold waist drums, taking the stage and turning left to stand as the third layer. Next, there are four small children in colorful robes - three hold paper brooms and one stands in the center of the line. Each time these four small children lead the melody and begin singing the first verse, the men in mixed robes below harmonize with them. Two layers stand behind the small children, with twenty musicians in the center, while the outer three layers turn alternately left and right. The small children in the outer layer use five-colored fan dance as the rhythm for the first turn, golden crossed staffs as the rhythm for the second turn, chrysanthemum dance as the rhythm for the third turn, and spinning staff dance as the rhythm for the fourth turn. When finished, they turn and enter the...
