毒なり。そのまゝにおくときは。そのとこ
ろより膿（うみ）て。下疳瘡（げかんきう）の潰（つひへ）たるがごとくに
なり。やがて腐蝕（くされこむ）ものあり。はやく前に
いふふりかけ薬をすべしふ【ふは白抜文字】河豚魚（ふぐ）の
毒は。腸（はらわた）にあらず。頭（かしら）にあらず。一 種（しゆ）肉（にく）中
に至毒（しどく）の物あれど。形状（かたち）にては漁人（れふし）と
いへども。これを別（わか）つことあたはず。偶（たま〳〵）その
どくにあたりて即死（そくし）するなり。よく
これを解（げ）するものは。油にまさる物有
ことなし。毒に中りたるとしらば。胡麻（ごまの）
油にても。ありあふものを一合ばかり速（すみやか）に
のむべし。これにてかならず解（げ）する也。
又 吐薬（はきぐすり）を用て吐するもよし。人 糞汁（くそのしる）
よくその毒を解（げ）することをいへど。油の
効の速（すみやか）なるには及ざる也。その外にさま
ざま解毒（げどく）の薬を古書（こしよ）に載（のせ）たれど。かな
らず効あるべしと思はるゝものはなし。
故にこの編（へん）には挙（あげ）ざる也。又此物の乾（ほ）し【注】
たるを喫（くひ）て。しばらくのうち骨節痿（ふし〴〵なへ）
て。立ことあたはざりしものゝありし也。これは
至毒（しどく）の物が。偶（たま〳〵）に混（こん）じたるを知ずして。【注】
くらひて毒にあたりたる物成べしもしかゝ
ることあらば。白鮝（するめ）を煎じてその汁を服（のむ）
か。蘘荷（めうが）の生汁（なましる）を服（のみ）たるがよし。油を
用る迄にいたらずして解（げ）すべしと

おくべしといへど。予はいまだ試（こゝろみ）ず。また
醋（す）をのむべしといへり。又 阿煎薬（あせんやく）も
効（こう）あるべければ。紫金錠（しきんぢやう）。萬（まん）金丹の類（るゐ）
を多く用てよし。されど船輿（ふねかご）によふ
やうなる身にては。よく百事（なにごと）をも成（なす）
ことあたはず。志あるものは。ふかくはづ

現代語訳
毒である。そのままにしておく時は、その所から膿んで、下疳瘡の潰瘍のようになり、やがて腐食するものがある。早く前に述べた振りかけ薬を使うべきである。
▲河豚魚の毒は、腸にあるのでもなく、頭にあるのでもなく、一種肉中に猛毒のものがあるが、形状では漁師といえども、これを見分けることができず、偶然その毒に当たって即死するのである。よくこれを解毒するものは、油に勝るものはない。毒に当たったと知れば、胡麻油でも、手近にあるものを一合ほど速やかに飲むべきである。これで必ず解毒する。また吐き薬を用いて吐かせるのもよい。人糞汁がよくその毒を解すると言われるが、油の効果の速やかさには及ばない。その他にさまざまな解毒薬を古書に載せているが、必ず効果があると思われるものはない。故にこの編では挙げないのである。またこの物の干したものを食べて、しばらくのうち骨節が萎えて、立つことができなかった者があった。これは猛毒のものが、偶然に混じったのを知らずに食べて毒に当たったものであろう。もしこのようなことがあれば、スルメを煎じてその汁を服用するか、茗荷の生汁を飲むのがよい。油を用いるまでに至らずに解毒できると思うからである。

▲船や駕籠の酔いには、硫黄の細末を内服し、臍にも詰めて、上から糊で紙を貼っておくべきだと言うが、私はまだ試したことがない。また酢を飲むべきだと言われている。また阿煎薬も効果があるであろうから、紫金錠、万金丹の類を多く用いてよい。しかし船や駕籠に酔うような身では、よく何事をも成すことができない。志のある者は、深く恥じるべきことである。

It is poison. If left as is, that area will suppurate and become like an ulcerated chancre, eventually becoming gangrenous. The powder medicine mentioned earlier should be used quickly.
▲The poison of pufferfish is not in the intestines, nor in the head, but there is deadly poison within a certain type of flesh. However, even fishermen cannot distinguish this by appearance, and people die instantly when they happen to encounter this poison. For detoxifying this well, nothing surpasses oil. If one knows they have been poisoned, they should quickly drink about one gō (180ml) of sesame oil or whatever is available. This will certainly provide detoxification. Using emetics to induce vomiting is also good. Although human fecal juice is said to detoxify this poison well, it does not match the swift effectiveness of oil. Various other antidotes are recorded in ancient books, but there are none that can be considered certainly effective. Therefore, I do not mention them in this volume. Also, there was someone who ate the dried form of this fish and for some time had weakened joints and could not stand. This must have been because they unknowingly ate something with deadly poison mixed in and were poisoned. If such a thing happens, it is good to decoct dried squid and take the broth, or drink fresh juice of Japanese ginger. I think this can provide detoxification without needing to use oil.
▲What is called "fukubyō" in dialect refers to yellow bloating. This was recorded in the previous section on hemorrhoids.
▲For motion sickness from boats and palanquins, it is said that one should take powdered sulfur internally and also stuff it in the navel, covering it with paper pasted with glue, but I have not yet tried this. It is also said that one should drink vinegar. Asen medicine should also be effective, so using much of medicines like Shikin pills and Bankin pills would be good. However, with a constitution that gets sick from boats and palanquins, one cannot accomplish anything well. Those with ambition should be deeply ashamed of this.
