一 方（ぱふ）一 術（じゆつ）といへども。正据（よりどころ）なく。確実（たしか）
ならざることは洩（もらし）たり。故（ゆえ）にこの編（へん）に
挙（あげ）たる中（うち）には世（よ）には纔（わづか）に一 方（ぱふ）を執（とり）
て。これを奇方妙薬（きはふめうやく）と称（となへ）。秘（ひ）して妄（みだり）に
伝（つた）へざるものをも。尽（こと〴〵）く之（これ）を記（しるし）たり。
故（ゆゑ）に此（この）編（へん）は。僅々（わづか）なる一小 冊子（さつし）なれども。
よく之に従（したがひ）て。急卒（きふそつ）の病（やまひ）を療（れう）ずる
ときには。世の伎（わざ）拙（つたな）く心 怯（おくれ）たる毉人（いじん）の。
事（こと）あるときには。俗家（しろうと）と俱（とも）に狼狽周（うろたえあは）
章（て）て。これを委任（まかせおき）がたき輩（やから）には。邈（はるか）に
優（まさり）たる処置（とりさばき）を為得（なしう）べきなり。又 毉人（いじん）
といへども。朝夕（あさゆふ）にこれを読（よみ）て。自得（じとく）
することあるにいたらば。人を救（すくふ）ことも又
多（おほ）かるべきは。全編（ぜんぺん）悉（こと〴〵く）皆（みな）実造実詣（じつなるすぢみち）に
して。猥雑無益（らちもなきむやく）の事（こと）はたえて記（しるす）こと
なきを以てなり。
一先師 桂（けい）山先生の迺公（ちゝぎみ）藍渓（らんけい）先生
台（たい）命を奉（ほう）じて。広恵済急方（くわうけいさいきふはふ）を撰（えらば）れ
し時。先師 専（もつぱ）ら其事を幹（つかさどり）。そののち
再（ふたゝび）その遺漏（もれたる）を拾集（ひろひあつめ）て。救急撰方（きうきふせんぱう）を
著（あらは）されてより。毉俗（いぞく）救急の書。此（こゝ）に於
全く備（そなはり）たり。今 此（この）編（へん）は彼（かの）二書に載（のせ）たる
ことも。又 遺漏（もれ）たることをも。俗間に伝た
る奇（き）方。自己（おのれ）の発明（はつめい）の試験（こゝろみ）をも。並（ならべ）
挙（あげ）たれども。もとこれ巻懐（くわいちう）の一小 冊（さつ）子
なれば。詳（つまびらか）にその同異 出典（でどころ）等（など）を記（しるす）ま
でには至（いたら）ざるなり。看者（みるひと）これを恕（おも）へ。
一済急方に薬物挨穴（くすりきうけつ）等（など）の図（づ）を出し
て。丁寧（ていねい）にこれを諭（さとさ）れたり。此（この）編（へん）の説（せつ）
のそれに及べるものあるは。採（とり）て参考（まじへかんがふ）
べし此 編（へん）は。以呂波（いろは）を以て部（ぶ）を分つと
いへども。再（ふたゝび）此（こゝ）に広恵済急方の目
次に效（なら）ひ。たゞ諸物入九竅（しよぶつきうきやうにいる）を。卒暴諸（そつばうしよ）
證（しよう）の中に摂（おさめ）。緩慢諸證（くわんまんしよしよう）と並（ならべ）挙（あげ）。
瘡瘍（さうよう）一門を別（べつ）にしたるのみなる
は。すべて急卒（きふそつ）の捜索（さぐりもとむる）に。彼（かの）書と
参攷（まじへかんがふ）るに便（たより）宜（よ）からしめんが為（ため）也

一 一方一術といえども、正当な根拠がなく、確実でないことは省いた。故にこの編に挙げた中には、世間ではわずか一方だけを取って、これを奇方妙薬と称し、秘伝として妄りに伝えないものをも、ことごとくこれを記した。故にこの編は、わずかな一小冊子であるけれども、よくこれに従って、急性の病気を治療する時には、世の技術が拙く心臆病な医人が、事ある時には、素人と共に狼狽し慌てふためいて、これを委任し難い輩には、はるかに優れた処置を行うことができるであろう。また医人といえども、朝夕にこれを読んで、自得することがあるに至れば、人を救うこともまた多いであろうことは、全編ことごとく皆実際の筋道であって、猥雑無益なことは全く記すことがないからである。
一 先師桂山先生の父君藍渓先生の台命を奉じて、『広恵済急方』を撰ばれた時、先師が専らその事を司り、その後再びその遺漏を拾い集めて、『救急撰方』を著されてより、医俗の救急の書は、ここにおいて全く備わった。今この編は彼の二書に載せたことも、また遺漏したことをも、俗間に伝わる奇方、自己の発明の試験をも、並べ挙げたけれども、もとこれは懐中の一小冊子であるから、詳細にその同異・出典等を記すまでには至らないのである。読者はこれを寛恕せよ。
一 『済急方』に薬物・按穴等の図を出して、丁寧にこれを教示された。この編の説でそれに及ぶものがあるのは、採って参考とすべし。この編は、いろは順で部を分かつといえども、再びここに『広恵済急方』の目次に倣い、ただ「諸物入九竅」を「卒暴諸証」の中に摂し、「緩慢諸証」と並べ挙げ、「瘡瘍」一門を別にしただけであるのは、すべて急性疾患の検索に、彼の書と参考するのに便宜を図らんがためである。

1. Even if it is just one prescription or one technique, I have omitted anything that lacks proper foundation and is not reliable. Therefore, among what is recorded in this compilation, I have thoroughly documented even those remedies that the world holds as merely single prescriptions, calling them miraculous formulas and wonderful medicines, keeping them secret and not transmitting them carelessly. Hence, though this compilation is merely a small booklet, when one follows it well to treat acute illnesses, one can achieve far superior treatment compared to those incompetent and timid physicians in the world who, when faced with emergencies, panic and become flustered together with laypeople, making them unreliable to entrust with care. Moreover, even physicians, if they read this morning and evening and come to understand it themselves, will be able to save many more people, because the entire compilation consists entirely of practical methods, with absolutely no recording of crude, useless matters.
1. When my former teacher Master Keizan, following the command of his father Master Rankei, compiled the "Kōkei Saikyū-hō," my teacher was exclusively in charge of that work. Later, he again collected what had been omitted and authored the "Kyūkyū Sen-hō," whereby medical emergency literature for both physicians and laypeople became completely established. Now this compilation includes both what was recorded in those two books and what was omitted from them, as well as folk remedies transmitted among the people and experiments from my own discoveries, all listed together. However, since this is originally a small booklet for carrying in one's pocket, it does not extend to recording in detail their similarities, differences, sources, and so forth. I ask readers to forgive this.
1. In the "Saikyū-hō," diagrams of medicinal substances and acupuncture points were provided, with careful instruction given. Where explanations in this compilation relate to those, they should be consulted for reference. Though this compilation divides sections according to the iroha syllabary, I have again followed the table of contents of the "Kōkei Saikyū-hō," simply incorporating "foreign objects entering the nine orifices" into "acute violent symptoms" and listing it alongside "chronic mild symptoms," with only the "wounds and ulcers" section kept separate. This is all for the convenience of cross-referencing with that book when searching for acute conditions.
